Divest

tr. v. 1. To take away something belonging to someone, especially a right, title, or property; to dispossess
        2. To strip away, especially clothes

In the alley, after the kite tournament, Amir witnesses Assef as he divests the innocence from Hassan: "Assef knelt behind Hassan, put his hands on Hassan's hips and lifted his bare buttocks. ... It was the look I had seen before. It was the look of the lamb" (The Kite Runner 75-6)
